@jws
Ugh network issues. Took me all morning to download the Xcode beta. Had to restart every 10-30 seconds. Would start at 5 MB/s then trickle of and die. :\
@jws
Network trace showed a ton of dup acks and then at the end the remote host hangs up with a FIN.
@jws
I FIXED IT! Don't use the surge protector on your UPS. Just don't. :facepalm: Totally messed up everything. Went back to ONT->Gateway with no UPS in the middle, and all's more than well.
@33MHz
@jws ah, yeah; I've heard that. We got struck by lightning at work a few times, and I looked into surge protectors for Ethernet; couldn't get UPS to work, but there are dedicated I've found that so far haven't killed speed, either.
@33MHz
@jws Most don't go gigabit. :/
@jws lost power twice in two days [and a few files:O] so went to Staples to ask about UPS but they say for an all-in-one, 45 mins to an hour is all I would get and none of their UPS or any OS they now sell supports a "shutdown" signal to the system.

@jws
@33MHz Now that I've unbroken my network, I'm finally getting to enjoy those gigabit speeds. :D

Now I'm looking forward to when I finally upgrade to a phone with 802.11ac support, so I can enjoy 250 MB/s down on my phone.
@33MHz
@jws who's providing?
@33MHz
@prometheus !! no shutdown? Surely they all have USB connections to host computers!! /@jws
@jws
@prometheus I've got a CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD UPS 1500VA 900W AVR Mini-Tower [amzn.to]. It will do shutdown signal over USB. I've got it set up to do that for my NAS. (Bought it because I was getting a NAS, TBH.)
@jws
@33MHz AT&T. The threat of Google Fiber worked wonders. :)
@33MHz
@jws cool! Glad it worked for someone. :}

Go to the App Directory to explore the network more!
