@33MHz
"He became a famous repairman.. Bob Heil (?), he was a HAM radio guy, and somebody came into his shop and said can you repair this? And he said yeah. His shop was just across in Illinois. Went on to do sound for The Who, CTA..."
@chrisaldrich
@33MHz I remember watching this interview with Bob ages ago and enjoying it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7WSlq5dqWo
@jws
@33MHz I think I might have a book autographed to me by him. My dad was a ham in the St Louis area, and I got my ticket in fifth grade. Vague memories of presumably Bob Heil talking about a book one evening, then doing signings at the end.
@33MHz
@chrisaldrich WILL watch.
@33MHz
@jws hmm! I'm quoting my dad from this evening. Dad's an electrical engineer, with bunches of background in music, but nothing "cred"-wise.
@33MHz
@chrisaldrich that was a lot of fun. I like his demeanor.
@33MHz
@chrisaldrich the shout-outs to St. Louis help. 😉
@chrisaldrich
@33MHz He reminded me of the three A4's I used to have in my 1100+ seat theater in Baltimore. The tweeters on top of them were over 6 feet tall... they made great sound!
@33MHz
@chrisaldrich I bet! We're the tweeters visible to the stage?
@33MHz The tweeters were mounted on top of the A4s and angled slightly. They all sat directly on stage (on platforms with casters) right behind our 45 foot wide movie screen, so they weren't visible to the audience.
